Former Foreign Minister Dr. Ahmed Shaheed has resigned from Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP).
Dr. Shaheed who was a key figure of DRP, said on resignation that DRP mocks people with different views and promotes wrong deeds among the society.
In the resignation letter, Dr. Shaheed said that DRP worked against people’s thoughts rather than working towards it. He also said that DRP didn’t want to create young leaders but instead worked on the own purposes of some old leaders who do not fit to this era.
Dr. Shaheed also said in his letter that DRP plays a significant role in promoting corruption.
Dr. Shaheed’s letter was concluded saying that he resigned from the party as DRP has failed to reach the objective why the party was formed.
