The disputed and unsolved teacher’s salary hike is broadening to make way for gaining strength and the initiated rights activist group Teachers Association Link has held a meeting in Addu Atoll. They say it’s an introduction trip that the association needs to address the teachers across the nation the potential and the aim of the link.
Two days ago the Association Link held a meeting in Addu Atoll Hithadhoo Muhibbddhin School to address the teachers of the region to promote teachers development and help them understand the work being done to get teachers their rights with salary increment and pay rise with continuing issues.
The media attending to the meeting asked the Link about the coverage of the activist’s hard work, it was known that some from the media is not giving enough attention while the Link were trying to make their activities more media friendly, especially live radio and TV coverage.
The newly formed Association that came visible on the 22 of June this year said the association was established to promote the condition and teachers environment and was formed as teacher’s depression of low income and other allowances forced them to protest for hikes.
The teachers across the nation accept some cowardly and hawkish administrations resilience, ended an indefinite pretest to a single day protest on the 1st of July and attended to their duty to respect the civil service commission, the parliament and the human rights commissions’ appeal, giving the Ministry of Education that failed to improve teachers salary and allowances as promised, until July 31st. They said they may go in to protest again if their demands were not heard from the government but when the Link was asked whether they would go on strike from the given zero hour, the Association remained silent.
Few days before the meeting broadened to atolls the Ministry of Education said that the Ministry is working to avoid any protest teachers warned giving the deadline to end of July. The ministry is trying to stop teachers repeating the unrest and said the Ministry is holding the leading activist teachers and the discussions are underway.
It is believed that the Parliament gathering tomorrow will have the teachers salary increase issue on the agenda.
