Leader of Islamic Democratic Party (IDP) as well as its presidential contender Umar Naseer has accused former attorney general Dr. Hassan Saeed and his colleagues of being ‘agents’ of President Gayoom.
IDP leader Umar, a key stake holder of the opposition Alliance, said there are tell tale signs indicating Dr. Hassan and his colleagues, who are members of the Alliance as well, are President Gayoom’s agents.
Umar said that the recent gathering of the Alliance members in front of the Presidential Palace to call up on President Gayoom for a speedy ratification of the constitution was agreed by all senior members of the Alliance and that the absence of Dr. Hassan and his associates from the gathering was rather suspicious.
“They too agreed to be there, but when every body else turned up they did not, even when everybody went home, they did not turn up, it is very suspicious and this is indicates that they are agents of Gayoom” Umar said.
Umar said as politicians such pressures are to be expected and if such pressures cannot be tackled head on it is considered a cowardice act
