All Court proceedings being held at Criminal Court will be suspended for two weeks, the Attorney General’s Office has said.
According to the news statement issued by the Attorney General’s Office on Wednesday, the suspension of the court proceedings had been put into effect in preparation for the new regulations accompanying the country’s new constitution which was ratified on Thursday. The statement said that a lot of administrative work was required to prepare to switch over to the legal proceedings under the new constitution.
The Attorney General’s Office said that they had discussed the issue with legal experts such as judges, the Justice Minister, magistrates and other such authorities.
