It is possible to form a coalition: Dr. Mohamed Waheed

Presidential Candidate Dr. Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik from National Alliance party has said that there is possibility of his party forming a coalition with another party for the elections.

In a press conference held regarding the party’s successful registration, Dr. Waheed said that the senior members of the party want a member from the party to compete in the elections. But he said that it could change depending on the situation.

“There are goals we want to achieve. We would be considering about those who wish join us to achieve these goals. Our main objective is to change the way how the government operates. This could only be done with a new government. So we are ready to work with those who wish to work with our policies” Dr. Waheed said.

He said that although there yet has been no discussions about competing in the elections by forming a coalition, talks might be held with political parties in the next few days.

“We believe it to be the best for a single candidate to represent many parties. So we would work on that” Dr. Waheed said.

Member of interim executive committee of the party, Adam Manik (Sarangu) said that it is not necessary that a member of the party be a running mate. But he said that the other part must respect their manifesto.

“We don’t have a problem even if we get cabinet post. But we are ready to join a party would respect our policies and act upon the best policies” Adam said.
