Presidential Candidate of Jumhoory Party as well as Presidential Candidate of Jumhoory Coalition Qasim Ibrahim has said that his victory at the forthcoming presidential elections will be a landmark victory in the country’s history as it will bring the powers of the government back to the people. When asked whether at any point a government formed under his leadership will exhibit any features of despotism and totalitarianism as according to widespread public opinion the present government is one such government, Qasim, former finance minister, replied that he would like to guarantee all citizens that a government represented by JP coalition will respect rule of law and follow democratic principles. Qasim said he is fully confident that people will believe his sincerity and support his efforts to change the present government.
“Our government will be the government that will bring the powers of the government back to its rightful owners, the people. There will be no despotism in our ranks, no personal agenda, we will work with the people for the benefit of the people” Qasim said.
Qasim went on to say that his government will listen to the people and will consider the needs of the people when making all decisions.
“We started our campaign by forming a coalition by with two political parties; we are currently in negotiations with another 2 party, we will introduce changes as desired by the people” Qasim said speaking from Kaashidhoo while being on a campaign visit.
Qasim said Jumhoory coalition will exhibit exemplary standards of democracy and that a government formed under his leadership will develop the country as desired by the people.
