Senior officials of MIFCO voice the need for change

Senior officials of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) including their Managing Director Adil Saleem has endorsed Mohamed Nasheed (Anni) for President, voicing the need for change.

The announcement was made in a press conference held yesterday at Dharubaaruge “Fansavees” hall.

Other senior officials of MIFCO who took part in the press conference include the company’s chief Accountant Abdullah Ahmed, Assistant General Manager of Kooddoo Fisheries Complex Hassan Shafiu, Mariyam Majida Hassan from Corporate Department, Deputy head of company’s Finance and Accounting department Fathmath Fainaaz, Head of Human Resource Moosa Naeem, Head of Information department Mueen, Management Analyst Mohamede Amir, Deputy head of sales and marketing Ashfag and Deputy head of procument department Faiz.

Beginning the news conference, Adil said that he was speaking not on behalf of MIFCO, but to express the thoughts of some educated Maldivian youth.

Adil said that fishermen from Northern and Southern Maldives always calls him and according to what they say and according to the result of the first round of the Presidential Elections, he believes that a change must come.

“I then got the opinion of the educated youth of the company. Their thinking is such that educated responsible Maldivians should not just stay quiet, looking (at what is happening). So we are expressing what we want” Adil said.

He also said that the head of most centers of MIFCO has the same thinking.

“Before I came here, I phoned them. They said that I’m their head and that I express their thoughts in behalf of them. Among them include Felivaru Production Manager and Engineering manager and also Kooddoo’s Deputy Manager” he said.

Adil said that they want capable people those who wish and can do to attain the leadership. He said that he and senior officials of MIFCO is endorsing for a change.

“I also voted for Maumoon in the first round of the elections” Adil said. He also expressed dissatisfaction over Deputy Fisheries Minister Fathin Hameed without mentioning her name.

“We are disappointed. If there isn’t a change, the former heads will rule over MIFCO. It cannot be accepted” Adil said.

In the press conference, Adil mentioned many reasons and evidence why they endorse for a change.

“People are saying to me, Adil we have been patient enough. We cannot stay like this after seeing things from our own eyes. Showing an example, some people told the Rannamaari story. That people did whatever they were told. We want reform. We want young educated people. Lets vote for Anni this time sincerely for a good change” Adil said.
