Chinese Aid Promises 25,000 houses for Maldivian


Executing Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) manifesto has come with foreign aid, the official spokesman for the president elect Mohamed Nasheed Anni says. He said the MDP coalition has a manifesto with five potential promises the new government would bring to reality and the Communist Republic of China has granted part of its aid to the new government providing 25,000 homes for the people of the Maldives.

Zaki said that the mega project would be open in a bid with related proposal in black and white. He said the deputy prime minister of China is to visit to the Maldives on the 23rd of this month.

Speaking to news reporters on his daily briefing, he said the reporters must help with responsibility in providing the transparency and necessary information the public anticipated.

According to Zaki the Sri Lankan acting High Commissioner has made a courtesy call to Mohamed Nasheed, the president elect and has told Nasheed that the long time neighboring country’s president Shri Mahinda Rajapakse is to attend the president elect oath taking ceremony.

Speaking on foreign ties and wider relations Zaki had yesterday that Mohamed Nasheed has invited the Asian noble laureate and activist whose 14 years of political carrier lead to house arrest over 12 years by a powerful military Junta unlawfully, the Strong activist for democracy in Myanmar Aung San Suu Kyi to attend the oath taking ceremony. He said the invitation has been sent through proper channels but it was unclear the Junta would allow the leader to visit the Maldives.

He said the president of the United States of America, George W. Bush also has sent a letter of congratulation to the democratically elected president Mohamed Nasheed.
