Coalition Takes Priority Launching Maldives Interconnected Sea Transport

The most anticipated dream of government initiated interconnected Maldives is to come to a reality as the coalition launched part of its manifesto by sea transport. A briefing was held at yet to be presidential residence, Hilaaleege on the issue of the transport network.

The Maldives Democratic Party (MDP) shadow cabinet Minister Ahmed Aslam answering a question by Haama Daily said that interconnecting Maldives through a sea transport system is a priority concluded by the MDP Coalition and said that they will open a tender bid for interested parties to conduct the mega project. He said the project can be bid by local and foreign investors.

The ferry service which would help easier access to transport people and goods across the nation by sea, Aslam said it would not put a heavy load on the pockets.

Speaking prior to the briefing of launching the transport system the president elect Mohamed Nasheed said that the transport system is designed with three levels. The transport system levels he said were, an Atoll ferry which travels from one island to another in one atoll, a regional ferry that travels between one atoll to another and a ferry that run from north to south. He said this would improve economy and easy access of communication through transport.
