Some 400 jobs will be transferred to administrative offices of the newly established 7 provinces and that the application for the jobs will be invited in the coming week, state minister for home affairs Ahmed Mujthaba has revealed.
State Minister Mujthaba, who plays a key role in establishing and making necessary changes to the government administrative structure to facilitate smooth administrative offices of the Provinces, said administration of all the 7 provincial offices will be complete with some 400 additional staff and as such efforts are currently underway to seek them.
He said as most of the functions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, previously known as Atolls Administration , will be handed over to provincial offices, majority of the staff currently employed in the ministry will also be included in the 400 positions at the provincial offices.
He further said in selecting staff for the 400 positions at the administrative offices of the 7 provinces priority will be given to employees already working in the ministry in relevant departments, people from islands with less job opportunities and people will suitable experience and qualifications.
Minister also said Joint Secretaries instead of Permanent Secretaries will be appointed to supervise and run the Provincial Offices and that every effort will be made to afford higher salaries to staff ,than normal salaries given to civil servants.
However, he said job structure of employees of the Provincial Offices will be similar to the structure of the civil servants and that the structure is now complete.
