HDC to lease 13 plots of land to highest bidder

Hulhumale’ Development Corporation (HDC) has revealed that 13 plots of land are to be leased out the highest bidder. HDC said the land plots are from its industrial area and will be leased out for a period of two years.

HDC also revealed that land plots will be leased to the highest bidder and the winning party must be a 100 percent Maldivian owned company or organization.

The size of land plots vary from 500 square meters and 2500 square meters and that interested bidders may bid for more than one land. HDC said the land plots are area designated for industrial purposes and includes 4 plots of land allocated for the development of fisheries and agricultural goods, 7 plots of lands allocated for warehousing and 2 plots of land designated for warehousing odorous substances and carrying out noisy work.

A businessmen speaking to Miadhu Daily on the matter said that although some of the issues relating to land congestion and scarcity may be alleviated by leasing land from Hulhumale’ , transport of items from Hulhumale’ to Male’ will incur additional costs and that unless lands can be obtained at bargain prices it will not be attractive venture.
