When the government of President Nasheed assumed power in November last year, the conditions and of Male’ had deteriorated to an extent that a quick fix is not possible and what ever issues that can be fixed easily are being looked in to and will be solved at the earliest, Male’ Municipality President Saragu Adam Manik has said.
He said public complaints are pouring in as many traders are warehousing their goods, especially perishables, at unauthorized places. He said this is causing discomfort and inconvenience to the general public living nearby.
He many such issues have to be addressed and that root cause of all such issues are lack of planning and foresight of part of the previous government. He further said all issues that can be fixed, immediately, are being rectified and that the results of his work will be apparent in the coming months.
Male’ Municipality President Adam Manik further said when dealing with such issues, the rights of the general public as well as the rights of the traders who are warehousing such items in authorized places , will be considered equally.
“These are issues and problems are the result of complete disregard to rules and regulations, these issues are resulting from decision and actions taken by the Chief with complete disregard to rules and regulations, the fact is solving such issues are more difficult than starting a fresh, the incumbent government is in this situation right now, by the will of Almighty, the good results will be seen soon” Adam Manik said.
Adam Manik also said ever since his assumption of office the President of Male’ Municipality he is constantly receiving complaints from the general public and every effort is being made to find solutions to the issues of the public.
