President signs book of condolences

President Mohamed Nasheed and Vice President Mohamed Waheed on Monday afternoon signed the Book of Condolences placed at the Indian High Commission in Male’ following the passing away of former Indian President Ramaswamy Venkataraman.

The President and Vice President were greeted on his arrival at the High Commission by the Indian High Commissioner to the Maldives, A. K. Pandey.

The President wrote on the condolence book as: “With the death of Mr Venkataraman, the world has certainly lost a most valuable asset, but we take strength in the ideas he has left and the good life he had.”
Vice President Dr Mohamed Waheed wrote: “I would like to extend my condolence to the government, the people and to especially, the family of the former President.”
