Government to Link Madaveli and Hoadedhdhoo


President Mohamed Nasheed has announced that the government would this year begin building a causeway between Madaveli and Hoadedhdhoo of South Huvadhu Atoll which are separated by a shallow lagoon.

Speaking in Madaveli, the first leg of the tour of Huvadhu Atoll he began this morning, the President said the government’s intention was to combine the development of both islands.

He said, as both islands were being linked, it would be necessary to reclaim more land, increase commercial activity, and build a large harbour to foster the development of both islands.

In addition, he said, as part of the programme to link both islands, the government intended to establish combined electricity and water grids on both islands.

Highlighting, specific programmes planned for Madaveli, he stated that the government would this year commence laying the island’s sewerage system, and the island’s health centre would be upgraded to a telemedicine centre.


He also detailed the government’s achievements in delivering its pledges in Madaveli.

When the Government cannot link up with it's own people, and the people are demonstrating every night on the streets of Male, What Bridge can it afford, or even know of to link Madaveli and Hoadehdhoo. Don't be fooled by the lies of a liar.
