Citizens trust the police to protect and serve them. But on 8th February 2012, we all saw a whole different image in the capital of Maldives, Male’. Thousands of activists of Maldives democratic party (MDP) were protesting against a coup led by the Maldivian military to remove Mohamed Nasheed as the president of the country, which was successful, when the police in full riot gear attacked them and treated the civilians like animals.
